If you need a carport for one vehicle alone, then what you would look for is called a single carport. There are a number of different types of single car carports on the market and what kind you get should depend not only on personal preference and the aesthetics of it, although of course you want to get something that is not an eyesore. You will also need to consider where on the property it will be built, how much room you have, as well as the building permit laws of the area you live in. While you often do not need a building permit to build a carport on your property, in many cases you do and it is definitely worth it to check out the laws regarding this before you actually build, or have a contractor build, your single car carport.
The two main styles of carports are the single slope carport (also called a lean to carport) and the flat roof carport. Most companies that sell single carports will likely sell both these types. Single slope carports are good for when you do not have all that much room on your property to build on; you attach one side to your house and then give it a sloped roof. It also helps if you live in an area that snows for winter as the snow falls off instead of accumulating on the roof of the carport.
Flat roof carports are also good as well and they have the advantage in that you can build on the roof of them if you get a flat roof that is made from either wood or metal. As far as the prices of these two types of carports it varies a lot depending on the exact size, brand name, materials used to build it and whether it is an open air carport or enclosed carport.
