Carport Kits, Carports

There are many advantages to putting up even a simple carport for your vehicle.  It protects the vehicle from UV rays, rain and snow, all of which will take a toll on the vehicle if it is parked out in the open.  It provides you with an extra roofed in area for storing gardening tools, or for pets.  It also adds value to the home in case you want to sell it in the future.

Simple carports are just post and beam carports which, as the name implies, are four posts put up on a smooth cement surface with a roof added to the top.  These are also called open carports.  They are pretty much a do it yourself job with the right materials and the right carport kit to set it up and it does cut a lot of the cost to do it on your own as opposed to hiring a contractor to put it up for you.

Besides checking the building laws where you live to see if you need a building permit to put up an open carport and measuring the area to see exactly what dimensions you need (keep in mind that when looking at carport measurements it is the measurements of the roof that is given), you will also want to decide on what kind of materials you want to use.  You can get carports that simple have a canopy roof, or ones that are made from wood, aluminum, or steel, with steel being about the best quality and most durable, although it is the most expensive.

Another thing you should do before actually buying the carport is to check out a few reviews to make sure that the company you are considering buying a post and beam carport from is honest.  Typing the company’s name into an internet search engine is a good way to see what others who have done business with that particular company have to say about them.
