Carports

A new design in carports is the PV carport. The PV stands for photovoltaic, which is a new lighter weight material then what the traditional carports use in their construction. The modern carport design claims to reduce the overall weight of the constructed carport by as much as 50 percent. The PV material is also much more flexible for use in its applications. This is good news for people looking to incorporate more earth friendly resources into their construction. The use of the PV material means less production of manufacturing the metal pipes and fittings for the carport structures.

You can further enhance your earth friendly structure by making it a solar carport. You can have solar panels installed on the roof of the carport to help create a natural and renewable energy source for your home. Solar carports can also be used in conjunction with a business to help reduce the energy costs of the company. Often it is easier to access the roof of a carport for placing solar panels on then the roof of a high rise business building. This would also be true for a high rise apartment or condo complex.

While PV shelters still need to have the concrete blocks used in the base for support, the overall weight of the structure is still reduced. This also means there is less stress on the ground the unit sits on. Less stress on the ground means there is less potential for sinking over a long period of time, which means the structure wouldn’t need to be readjusted as often. The material is also less prone to wear and tear than the metal structures are. With more people wanting to incorporate more energy efficient structures into their lives it looks like the PV carports will be the next phase in construction.
