Carport Kits, Carports, Tips

You have worked hard all of your adult life.  You have lived frugally, so retirement can be an opportunity to travel and enjoy seeing the sites and going places you have only dreamed about until now.  To make you adventures both exciting and restive, you have invested in a home away from home.  You now have a castle on wheels.  But, during the months you want to live in your stationery residence, you need to find a way to shelter your moving home from harsh weather and the fading effects of the sun.  You need to protect your second home with RV carports.

RV carports are designed specifically for the height, length, and width of a recreational vehicle.  Unless you want to totally renovate your garage, it will never fit.  You will either ruin your RV like a can opener peeling away the lid of a can, or your garage roof will be a mass of splinters and pieces of board.

Most people simply park their recreational vehicles to the side of their garage and leave it to the mercy of the elements.  But, with such a massive investment in your retirement, are you willing to risk the next hail storm, or the heat of the sun that fades and cracks the upholstery?  Depending on your particular climate, you have basically 2 choices in RV carports.

RV Carport Kit

If hail is not normally in your forecast, you may opt to purchase a kit that is basically a big carport canopy to protect your RV from the sun’s destructive rays.  All carport kits come with a steel framework.  But, the sides and roof that protect your recreational vehicle are a pliable cover of sturdy material.  You drape it over the frame and you have a barrier against the sun.

Alternatively, if you want to protect your second home from the weather, you will want to select a steel RV carport kit.  The roof and sides of metal RV carports protect against the wind and hail that can cause thousands of dollars in damage to your recreational vehicle.  You can also lock it away from would-be vandals who have no respect for other people’s property.

Build for Bucks

Of course, all steel RV carport kits come ready to assemble, with complete instructions.  In fact, you can start out with a simple frame and metal canopy carport, to save money.  Then, as finances allow, you can easily convert the basic style to a garage or workshop big enough to house your RV. You build your own carport, so you can save bucks for more important or fun expenses.

If do-it-yourself kits are not your cup of tea, the premade panels and instructions are fairly easy for someone else so inclined.  It should not be too difficult for you to find help with constructing the RV structure.  In the end, you will still save on what it would cost to hire a contractor to build you an RV shelter from scratch.

So, if you have finally retired and have that wonderful home on wheels, keep it safe from vandals and the elements with a steel RV carport.  The do-it-yourself kit will save you a bunch of money and the resulting structure will keep your recreational vehicle in pristine condition.
