Canopies, Carport Kits, Carports

Changing your carport to improve or increase the durability of the overall structure or even to add electricity can be easier than you think. There are direct buy or eBay sites that specialize in carport fittings that can transform your carport into a sturdier shelter for your expensive cars, trucks, boats, recreational vehicles, and big boy toys.

It is amazing that just changing a fitting can make your carport withstand stronger rain wind or snow, but with the right fitting, and the right location of your carport, you can use that temporary shelter like a permanent one. Canopy footpad fittings, cross bar fittings, replacement poles, steep peak carport fittings and heavy duty grommets can increase your carport’s ability to withstand the elements.

Canopy fittings should fit snugly around your existing canopy poles. These fittings add stability to the legs preventing them from sinking into the ground or shifting as it settles. Rain can soften the ground and cause an unstable base for carport placed on soil. These fittings have holes in the feet that you can anchor the feet, in soil with spikes, on concrete with bolts. There are different gauges of crossbar fittings for a canopy that will increase the strength of your structure. Purchasing a higher gauge of metal than what may have come in your carport kit can offer stronger wind deflection and avoid structure damage.

We all think we are great vehicle parking experts, but occasionally we may miss the mark. If your carport pole does get a dent it may be compromised and you should replace it immediately. Other carport fitting options including steep peak which is designed to create a high pitch roof in the carport canopy, works great for covering boats, trucks or other tall vehicles. By adding electric to your carport, evening work under your carport will be a little easier to do.

If your steep peak carport fitting does not have the electric adaptors included, adding such a fitting will help eliminate the fire hazard associated with string lights. The fittings have wielded 1” electrical conduit attachments that tighten into the conduit. You can insert a switch and light boxes to the conduit and illumination will be just a finger touch away.
