For most people the terms carports and awnings mean the exact same thing. In fact, there is absolutely nothing to separate these two terms other than their function or utility. Awnings are usually smaller in size and more for the purpose of providing shelter over a patio area for outdoor living purposes. Carports on the other hand, offer multiple types of installation especially if the space you wish to cover is away from your home. For example, if you are looking to cover a driveway or backyard space, you can choose from various styles including open, partially enclosed, and fully enclosed. Fully enclosed shelters are great because in addition to providing the ultimate amount of shelter for your vehicle, they also leave you plenty of space for storage of other items such as lawn equipment or recreational items.
When shopping online for a carport, awning, or other type of utility building, make sure you begin with local companies. If you cannot find a specific shelter locally, you can then begin to expand your search. Shopping locally will reduce the shipping cost and overall price you end up paying for your carport or awning. Carports that are enclosed are of course going to cost more in the end but the extra protection is well worth the amount of money you will save in the long run by decreasing your vehicle’s exposure to damaging events.
