A carport is also able to have additional finishing touches.  You can add side panels to give your vehicles more protection from the weather.  You can also add gable ends to the roof.  You always have the option of adding electricity in order to create lighting both underneath the carport and outside of it as well.  This will allow you additional safety and preventing an accidental fall, because you cannot see.
